While no one can tell you the magic formula to make yourself feel comfortable in your own skin (hint: there is no magic formula,) there are simple things you can do to boost your confidence and learn to love who you are.
If you’re feeling uncomfortable in your skin, learn to appreciate and reward yourself for the fantastic, beautiful woman you know you are. For example, try taking a long look at your wardrobe. Give away all of the clothes that don’t fit, and go on a mini-shopping spree for a few new outfits that fit well and that you’ll wear frequently. Even if you aren’t feeling comfortable on the inside, you can project an image of confidence with well-tailored clothes that look good on you.
Subsequently, it’s not only clothes that make the woman; it’s the whole package. If you’re clueless when it comes to makeup, head to a department store makeup counter. You can usually get a free makeover; just ask the woman questions as she’s applying the makeup if you’d like to recreate the look yourself at home.
You may also consider springing for a new haircut to totally complete the physical transformation.
Of course, changing your appearance can only do so much towards making you feel comfortable in your own skin. However, if you like what you see when you look in the mirror, you are one step closer to projecting a confident image. Remember – if you love yourself, other people will gravitate towards that.
It takes work to feel comfortable with yourself; if you learn to appreciate and reward yourself (i.e., with a wardrobe re-vamp, a makeover, etc.), you are on step closer to truly being at peace with who you are.
