Fashion Steal of the Week: Peep Toe Heels

Because I’m a huge fan of peep toe heels, I’m always looking out for a new pair that strikes my fancy. These gorgeous white and cork peep toe heels definitely fit the bill; I’m also digging the retro vibe these heels have.

Featuring a gold lining, cushioned insole for ultimate comfort, and a 4 inch cork platform heel these shoes are a must-have for your spring wardrobe. Picture these babies with a flirty dress, or jazz up capris and a snug-fitting top with them. The possibilities are almost endless.

Sure, they’re not designer heels – but they almost look like they could be! I can already picture myself strutting my stuff downtown; what about you?

These shoes are available now from LuLu’s – at $24, they’re an absolute steal.

Learn to Feel Comfortable in Your Own Skin

While no one can tell you the magic formula to make yourself feel comfortable in your own skin (hint: there is no magic formula,) there are simple things you can do to boost your confidence and learn to love who you are.

If you’re feeling uncomfortable in your skin, learn to appreciate and reward yourself for the fantastic, beautiful woman you know you are. For example, try taking a long look at your wardrobe. Give away all of the clothes that don’t fit, and go on a mini-shopping spree for a few new outfits that fit well and that you’ll wear frequently. Even if you aren’t feeling comfortable on the inside, you can project an image of confidence with well-tailored clothes that look good on you.

Subsequently, it’s not only clothes that make the woman; it’s the whole package. If you’re clueless when it comes to makeup, head to a department store makeup counter. You can usually get a free makeover; just ask the woman questions as she’s applying the makeup if you’d like to recreate the look yourself at home.

You may also consider springing for a new haircut to totally complete the physical transformation.

Of course, changing your appearance can only do so much towards making you feel comfortable in your own skin. However, if you like what you see when you look in the mirror, you are one step closer to projecting a confident image. Remember – if you love yourself, other people will gravitate towards that.

It takes work to feel comfortable with yourself; if you learn to appreciate and reward yourself (i.e., with a wardrobe re-vamp, a makeover, etc.), you are on step closer to truly being at peace with who you are.

How to Avoid Buyer’s Remorse

Admit it, ladies – we’ve all done it at one time or another – it’s the guilty secret hiding in the back of your closet. Perhaps it’s the trendy handbag you thought you loved but never used, or that blouse that still has the price tags on. Face it, girls – we’ve suffered buyer’s remorse in the past and wondered just what we were thinking when we made that purchase.

Fortunately, there are ways to avoid buyer’s remorse when shopping for fashion.

  1. Be Firm and Realistic

In order to avoid buyer’s remorse, we need to concentrate on what we’re actually buying. Forget unflattering clothes that don’t fit; I don’t care if they’re trendy or not. If there’s a pushy saleswoman telling you it looks fabulous when you know it doesn’t, stand your ground! Don’t waste money on an outfit you know will never see the light of day. Be honest with what works on you and what doesn’t, and stick to it.

2.  Sales aren’t ALWAYS Worth It

While it’s one thing to nab up that adorable handbag you’ve been eying when it goes on sale, it’s another thing entirely to snap up a blouse or skirt you think you might wear. Remember ladies; just because it’s on sale doesn’t mean we should have it. Unless you see yourself wearing it frequently (or wearing it at all!), then forget about it. It’s still a waste of money if you never use it – even if it WAS on sale.

3.   Question Yourself

Impulse buys are the reason you suffer from buyer’s remorse at the end of the day; trust me honey, I’ve been there. Before you buy anything, ask yourself whether you’re ever going to wear it. Think about what you already own that will work well with your potential purpose and whether it flatters your body type. If it does, you know it’s a keeper; if you can’t think of a single time you’d wear it, don’t buy it simply on impulse – what a waste of money and closet space!

By sticking to your guns and following your gut instinct, you can successfully avoid buyer’s remorse from this point forth. Next time you head out to the mall or department store, remember these tips to keep you from buying something you’re going to regret.
